Girl Power, Asheville to Haiti!

Our Girl Power World Changer Club at Isaac Dickson Elementary School models sharing, caring, compassion, and leadership to some of our youngest community members each week at the Hill Street Daycare Center in Asheville.

For the last several weeks, the Girl Power club has been leading activities for the 3 & 4 year olds at the daycare. These girls plan and lead literacy and art activities each week.

After learning about how millions of girls worldwide are denied access to school and other opportunities, this club decided to show their support for education by partnering with the Hill Street Daycare. They are exercising their leadership skills, having fun, and encouraging these young students to invest in themselves and others.

In addition to serving their local community, the Girl Power club is concerned about education for children in Haiti. Following Hurricane Matthew’s devastating impact on this Caribbean country, these girls joined our other World Changer Clubs and friends of Heart of the Cross to respond to the needs of our partners, Zamar Ministries, in Haiti.

Upon learning that many of the students that attend Zamar schools had lost their homes in the storm and were now taking refuge at the school, the girls joined our response efforts raising over $650 for food relief support as well as collecting first-aid items and other necessities.
